Endeavor: Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village in February

Written by Scott Miller

Hello and Welcome to Endeavor - Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

Ya know, all our restaurants are open to the public and our Refresh Coffee Bar in Village Square serves Starbucks so there are people of all ages coming and going throughout the day. It’s not uncommon to see a couple of young mothers with babies or several people from local businesses sitting at a table having a meeting. It’s really very cool.

I was standing in village square the other day with one of our financial partners and as we watching the people at the coffee bar he said, “this is a retirement community right? It sure doesn’t seem like one.”  That is probably the highest compliment we could get. We just want to be a part of the community.

People often say, “I don’t know what it is but there’s something special about Garden Spot Village.” I think, some of it comes from a heartfelt desire to provide opportunities to live with meaning and purpose. For example our first trip to the Dominican Republic is in February. A group of residents, staff and members of the community will be visiting a CURE hospital. CURE provides no cost surgeries in third world countries for kids who can’t walk. We have a terrific partnership with another non-profit that serves people around the world. It give us the opportunity to put feet on the ground, no pun intended, in places like the Dominican Republic. It’s things like this that you can look forward too when you live here.

Making a Difference, another one of our community engagement initiatives  is collecting food for the New Holland Food Bank in February. You can drop off food items by the post office just down the hall from the creamery if you’d like to be involved. See the Game On page on the website for more information.

Be sure to check out the Future Resident seminars page on our website. You have to be a future resident to attend so if you haven’t submitted your application yet, I’d encourage it. Future Residents do have their privileges. The February seminar is about Real Estate.

If it’s been a while since you’ve been to a look and learn feel free to come back for a refresher. Look & Learns are open to everyone. And we love visitors. Feel free to stop by anytime.

This has been Endeavor – Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.
