Endeavor: Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village in March
Written by Scott Miller
Hello and Welcome to Endeavour - Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.
March is a wonderful month. By the end of it - a hint of spring is in the air, plus there’s Saint Patties day and Easter. Both of which are causes for grand celebrations around campus.
During February a team journeyed to the Dominican Republic and back. Besides exploring a seaside tropical paradise the people of Garden Spot Village touched a lot of lives. In March another team is on its way to a Lenca Village in Honduras. For those who wish to contribute closer to home Garden Spot Village is sponsoring a shoe drive through the month of March. Feel free to drop off new or gently used shoes. Who would think that a pair of shoes could be lifesaving - but in many countries - they are just that – life saving. Visit the Game On page on our website for details.
Look for the spring issue of Destination Magazine in late March. It outlines our strategic blue print so you’ll get a sense of what’s happening over the next 5 years. One of the things that people appreciate about Garden Spot Village is the high degree of transparency. Everyone is invited to get involved so there will be opportunities to contribute in ways that are meaningful to you.
The Garden Spot Village Marathon, Half Marathon and Kids Marathon is coming up April 8th and 9th. Now is the time to either register to run or sign up to volunteer. It’s an exciting and inspiring day! Google Garden Spot Village Marathon and check out the website.
Bagpipes! The Thompson McConnell Family Bagpipers will be performing this month. Don’t miss this one! It’s sure to be a musical experience to remember!
When I looked over everything that was happening in March I was a bit overwhelmed. People continually say, “there are so many opportunities to get involved, there is so much to choose from - you can’t do it all.” That’s kinda the idea. Each of us experiences purpose and meaning in our lives through different things. Whether it’s a trip to the Lenca Village in Honduras, participating in a marathon or the delight of a bagpipe concert there is a lot to choose from – and - people with like interests - to do things with. It’s one of the things that makes Garden Spot Village so attractive to people of all ages but especially - baby boomers.
We just posted the March issue of the Garden Variety where you can discover all that is going on this month.
This has been Endeavor – Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.
I’m Scott Miller and I hope to see you around campus.
As I always say . . . Life is Good!
