Getting Into the Christmas Spirit at Garden Spot Village

Written by Scott Miller

I just heard a huge round of applause from a large crowd in the Village Square just outside my office. A major remodeling that stretches from Village Square to The Harvest table was recently wrapped up and the result is spectacular. After almost 8 months, we moved back into the marketing suite at the Visitor Center. In review of my situation there is no complaint from me because the space is awesome (I even have a write-on wall). Still, I will say “it’s nice to be back home.” I can look out my window and see the comings and goings, and all the activity in Village Square is again within earshot.

The applause was for the “raising” of the wreath. With the remodeled space comes a new look for Christmas. If you’ve ever visited Garden Spot Village at Christmastime, you know it’s like a winter wonderland. This year it has been taken up a notch.  An amazing wreath 15 feet wide is suspended 18 feet above the ground. So far I’ve counted 15 Christmas trees and a host of 5 foot tall angels blowing gold trumpets welcome you as you walk up to the main entrance. It’s even snowing outside at the moment.

Sitting here listening to all the excited cheerful voices in Village Square makes me smile. There is a steaming hot mug of Starbucks coffee sitting on my desk that just came from the Creamery down the hall. I love the smell of freshly brewed coffee. Refresh, our new coffee bar, will be opening in the next few weeks and that’ll be just across the square from my office.

With all this talk of the Village Square, do you know what Garden Spot Village reminds me of?  A modern day yet old-fashioned small town. Modern day because I’d describe our new look as casually elegant and warm contemporary. Old-fashioned small town because that’s the character of the people. You know the kind - the ones who come out for festivities in the town square that are happy, easy-going and full of fun-loving life.
