On a Wednesday afternoon, teams filed into the Chapel, ready to put their brains into “innovation” mode.
Sitting in groups of five that included resident participants, everyone gathered to build on the work they’ve already done towards making Garden Spot a place that never ceases to continue looking forward. Each table, adorned with markers, knick-knacks, and idea sheets, became where ideas would take shape; ideas to get everyone, residents and staff alike, engaged in GSV. Not only the environment of GSV but the community of GSV – the meaningful relationships that develop in the various ways people connect.
The residents that took part offered a new perspective on what they see in the future for GSV, and a fresh take on the ways to get there. Everything from new ways to get the word out on events that may pique someone’s interest to fun ideas like a portable community mural that any artists can work on were thought up, getting everyone’s creative juices flowing,
Two-and-a-half hours later, as everyone now filed out of the Chapel, the chatter was enthusiastic and inspired. Even if the exact ideas aren’t put into action immediately, they provide a great starting point; a way to think outside the box. A way to continue looking forward.
