July 2016 | Endeavor: Highlighting the Happenings at Garden Spot Village

Written by Scott Miller

Hello and Welcome to Endeavour - Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

Can you believe it’s July already? Even though things seem to slow down in the summer there is no shortage of things to do at Garden Spot Village.

I’m standing in our Legacy Garden. It’s a fantastic place to start the day with a brisk walk or a run. It’s also a great place to simply sit and rejuvenate, read a book or get together  with good friends. One of the things we focus on as a community is Great Gathering Spaces that you can use -  in ways that suite you best – either by yourself or with others.

Happy 4th of July. Whether it’s coming up or you tuned after the fact, we hope it was a wonderful time of celebration with family and friends.

On July 13th is our Annual good ‘ole’ fashioned Ice Cream Carnival. It’s “free” for people who live here, their kids and grandkids. Plus, if you’ve given us an application and been approved as a future resident you and your grandkids are invited was well. I typically end up in the Dunk Tank. It’s a dollar a dunk so bring some ones dollar bills and try to drop me in the water. It’s a great event.

Know any 1st through 6th graders that need something to do this month? We’ve got an exciting 3 day vacation bible school on campus July 19 – the 21st at is open to all. See the flyer on page 7  in the Garden Variety for information on how to sign up.

The Making A Difference initiative this month - as it’s done for years - is collecting backpacks and school supplies to help out local kids and families in the area. The kids are thrilled and it helps to ease economic stress and strains on parents. Our individual collective efforts have a big impact. See page 13 in the Garden Variety to get involved.

Sycamore Springs is underway. Now is great time to learn more. If you’re thinking you want to get out from under the burdens of your house in the next 12 to 18 months - Sycamore Springs could very well be the answer. It may be July but you know snow is coming!  These are brand new single houses that will add another dimension to life in the community. They’re kind of like the iPhone of community development. A lot of thought went into them. There’s intentionality under the concept that facilitates relationships and the community life of small town living. We brought back big front porches.  And you get to personalize your house. Don’t wait – come and join an involved group of people doing the things they want to do every day.

That just scratches the surface because there is lot more happening around campus. You can find all the dates and times in the July issue of the Garden Variety which we just posted on our website. Be sure to check it out!

This has been Endeavor – Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

I’m Scott Miller and I hope to see you around campus.

As I always say  . . . Life is Good!
