June 2016 | Endeavor: Highlighting the Happenings at Garden Spot Village

Written by Scott Miller

Hello and Welcome to Endeavour - Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

There is so much going on in June I could talk for 10 minutes but . . . I wouldn’t subject anyone to that !!  Give me 2 or 3 and I’ll give you the highlights.

Here we are in the Aeroponic Green house - which is fully operational AND I can assure you, from personal experience,  turning out delicious produce! The flavor and freshness is amazing. You can buy it in our Refresh Gift Shop and we are serving it in our restaurants. Ya know . . . we are overwhelmed by the response. We were honored to have Deputy Secretary of Agriculture -  Hannah Smith-Brubaker speak at the dedication. Her words were incredibly inspiring as she encouraged others to engage in future thinking initiatives like this one.

Sycamore Springs !!  . . .  I am very excited!  We’ve started taking deposits on the first 27 houses AND we expect the first ones to be available for move in before the end of the year. There is a button on the home page of our website where you can learn more. It’s very unique! We don’t know of anything like it in the area. Tell your friends, family, anyone who is 55 or over to check it out.

June 4th is the Pedal to Preserve cycling event which we host at Garden Spot Village each year. There are 18 residents and staff on the Garden Spot Village Team. We designed a cool custom cycling jersey this year. It’s a great ride for people of any age.

June 21st is our annual golf tournament at Apple Cross Country Club. Apple Cross is a world class course and people love to play it. It’s a great event every year.

Grands and Kids Camp takes place the week of June 27th. This award winning program provides wonderful opportunities for residents to spend time with their grandkids that is fun, meaningful and worthwhile. We’re not sure who gets more excited – the grandparents or the grandkids. Everyone loves it !

That just scratches the surface because there is lot more happening around campus. You can find all the dates and times in the June issue of the Garden Variety which we just posted on our website. Be sure to check it out!

This has been Endeavor – Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

I’m Scott Miller and I hope to see you around campus.

As I always say  . . . Life is Good!
