November 2016 | Endeavor: Highlighting the Happenings at Garden Spot Village

Written by Scott Miller

Hello and Welcome to Endeavour - Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

It’s harvest season in Lancaster County and the fields are full of color.  Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching and the road side produce stands as busy as ever. I’m standing in a pumpkin patch at a local farm not far from Garden Spot Village. The simpler life is something the people of this area cherish and appreciate.

As excitement builds for the holidays there is a lot going on around campus. The train room open houses begin the last Saturday of this month. The layouts, the towns, the junctions and the sights along the tracks have all changed. More than 23,000 moms, dads, kids and train enthusiasts have visited over the last 10 years. Whether it’s a first time visit or you’ve been here before you’ll want to come and marvel at these amazing train displays which set holiday spirits in motion.

In preparation for the colder days ahead the Making a Difference team who sponsors and supports a different non-profit each month is collecting hats, scarves, gloves and mittens for children in the ELANCO school district. You are invited to get involved and support this worthwhile ministry. In addition, to providing warmth to a child on cold winter days they will know that there are good people out there who care about them. You can find the details in the November issue of the Garden Variety.

We all know the day after Thanksgiving marks the traditional beginning of Christmas Shopping. If you love the shopping but don’t mind letting someone else do the wrapping we have just the thing. Bring your packages to Garden Spot Village and resident volunteers will wrap them for a donation. All the donations go directly to the benevolent fund so you get a double benefit. Your gifts get wrapped and you make a contribution to a very worthy cause.Check the Garden Variety for dates and time.

Those are just a few of the highlights. There is so much more going on. We just posted the November issue of the Garden Variety on the website where you find the details about the things I mentioned here and everything else that is going on this month.

This has been Endeavor – Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

I’m Scott Miller and I hope to see you around campus.

As I always say  . . . Life is Good!
