Garden Spot Village Celebrates National Day of Prayer
Community prayer service will be held Thurs., May 7 at 7 p.m.
NEW HOLLAND, Pa. — Apr. 24, 2009 —Garden Spot Village and the ELANCO ministerium will hold a community prayer service to celebrate the National Day of Prayer on Thurs., May 7. The service will take place in the Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, beginning at 7 p.m. The community is invited to attend.
May 7 marks the 58th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer, which was created by a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress in 1952.
Then-President Harry Truman signed it into law. The National Day of Prayer is observed on the first Thursday in May. The National Day of Prayer Task Force coordinates observances across the country.
“We are pleased to participate in this event and to team together with
ELANCO ministerium in promoting prayer in our community. This service will include participants from local churches in addition to Garden Spot Village residents and staff,” said Chet Yoder, director of Pastoral Care at Garden Spot Village. “As a faith-based community, we believe that it is important to recognize the power of prayer on this day and every day.
The guide for the service will be the acronym PRAY, which stands for
“praise, repent, ask and yield.”
Garden Spot Village is a faith-based continuing care retirement community. The ELANCO ministerium is composed of pastors and ministry leaders of churches and ministries within the Eastern Lancaster County School District.
