After the 50-member congregation near Mountville agreed to sponsor the Burmese family, "all the 80-year-olds got involved," the church's pastor, the Rev. Karen Sensenig, said. Marathon registrations pass the 75 mark. Lancaster County Pennsylvania’s very first marathon is scheduled for April 4, 2009. As 2008 came to a close a number of people registered for this first time ever event. "We are very happy with the number of registrations so far,” said Scott Miller, Race Director and Director of Marketing for Garden Spot Village, “people who have checked out the route ahead of time say it’s a really great course. Today Garden Spot Village launched a facebook group entitled “Garden Spot Village” as a way to extend the Garden Spot Village “experience”. Garden Spot Village strives to provide a unique approach to creating community, camaraderie and friendship that involves not only the people that live on campus but those who visit and work here as well. Given the social networking characteristics of facebook it is a great way for residents to stay in touch with family, friends and associates. In addition potential future residents can friend Garden Spot Village residents and get a sense of what life is like in this vibrant picturesque country setting directly from the people that live here.

Garden Spot Village celebrated the Ribbon Cutting and opening of the Village Square Apartment Building. This $20 million building features 72 apartments on six floors that range in size from 1,300 square feet for 2 bedrooms, to 1,500 square feet for 2 bedrooms and a den and 1,899 square feet for 3 bedrooms. All apartments include fully equipped kitchens with solid cherry cabinets and Corian counter tops standard and 2 full baths with laundry. Many include underground parking.
