Harrisburg Area Community College Reprise Successful “Living and Learning Seminars”

NEW HOLLAND, Pa. — Aug. 29, 2011 — “A Musical Revolutionary: Jerome Kern” will be among the highlights of a day of enrichment classes presented by Garden Spot Village and Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC). The Living and Learning seminars will be held on Mon. Oct. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland.

“This is the third year that we are partnering with Harrisburg Area Community College to bring a day of education to the greater New Holland area,” said Colleen Musselman, director of life enrichment at Garden Spot Village. “These enrichment programs have proved to be very popular with our residents and neighbors from the surrounding community.”

The partnership began in 2008. HACC presents the Living and Learning seminars at Garden Spot Village each spring and fall.

In the morning, participants can select two 90-minute workshops on topics such as Giants of the Gilded Age, Famous Sayings and Their Origins, Dogs in War, Famous Pennsylvanians and many more. In the afternoon, Dr. Donald Koones will give a special presentation on Jerome Kern.

The program is open to the public. Pre-registration is required. The public is invited to attend at a cost of $49. The registration fee includes two workshops, the afternoon presentation and lunch.
