NEW HOLLAND, Pa. —Jan. 16, 2011 — When the first robins of the year arrive, welcome them with a one-of-akind birdhouse. More than 40 unique, handcrafted birdhouses and feeders will be on display, along with bird-themed wall hangings and pillows, during the annual Garden Spot Village Birdhouse Display and Silent Auction. The public is invited to this year’s event, which runs from Feb. 1 through Feb. 29.
“From traditional birdhouses and feeders to some very whimsical designs, there is something for every taste. The creativity is truly amazing,” said Linda Dodge, director of development for Garden Spot Village.
Members of the woodshop and the Piecemakers quilting clubs at Garden Spot Village donated the items. Proceeds from the silent auction benefit the Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund, which helps provide continuing care for residents who need financial assistance.
The Indoor Garden, where the birdhouses are on display, is open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The public is welcome to bid on any of the items in the silent auction, which will close at 5 p.m. on Wed., Feb. 29.
Auction high bidders will be notified by phone. The birdhouses and feeders can be picked up the week following the auction from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Village Square Reception Desk.
