NEW HOLLAND, Pa. — April 9, 2015 — Garden Spot Village and Zolé are teaming up to offer paint parties in New Holland. The public is invited to "Gough Your Own Way" with Zolé on Friday, April 24 , beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Garden Spot Village.

"Paint Parties are the newest trend in arts and fun — and no artistic ability is requires," said Colleen Musselman, the community's director of life enrichment. "Come for a great time, painting and laughing among friends."

Musselman became aware of these popular events while visiting family in the Baltimore area. A friend connected her with Christine Huntzberry, a Lancaster County entrepreneur who offers art instruction at multiple locations and sells rustic furniture, hand-made jewelry, and boutique gifts at retail locations in Lancaster and Quarryville. Musselman invited Huntzberry to Garden Spot Village.

"She loved the energy and had worked at a retirement community in her youth. What a connection! It came full circle," said Musselman. And there was another plus. "As a Christian, she does not promote the usual wine-and-spirits atmosphere of paint nights."

The class learns step by step, using fast-drying acrylic paints, which make it easy to correct mistakes. Each participant works on the same image. A sample painting is currently on display at Garden Spot Village.

"However, we encourage creativity to spark in each person," said Huntzberry, who held her first studio class in Parkesberg a year ago. Although the Parkesberg location was originally meant to be primarily a retail site, the classes took off, so she expanded the studio. "We love seeing people find their inner talent and often find they are far more talented than we are."

"At the end of the evening, everyone returns home with a fabulous painting he or she has created," said Musselman.

"Gough Your Own Way" is open to the public, but class size is limited. Cost is $35, which includes all art supplies, instructions, and a Starbucks specialty drink from the Refresh coffee bar at Garden Spot Village. To reserve a space at the paint party, call 717-355-6000.
