NEW HOLLAND, Pa. —Jan. 14, 2016 — An airplane, a pagoda and an adobe hacienda are just some of the hand-crafted birdhouses and bird-themed quilted items that will be up for bid in the eighth annual Birdhouse Show and Silent Auction, which takes place at Garden Spot Village from Monday, Feb. 1 through Monday, Feb. 29.

“Thanks to the generosity and talents of our woodworkers, quilters, cross-stitchers and others, we are blessed to be able to offer these one-of-a-kind collectibles that make terrific gifts,” said Linda Dodge, director of development for Garden Spot Village, “and we invite the public to come and see them on display in the Village Square Indoor Park, where you’ll have the feeling it’s springtime as you enjoy viewing each beautiful handcrafted item.”

Members of the Garden Spot Village Woodshop started the event in 2009 to raise money for the Benevolent Fund, which helps support residents who need financial assistance. In recent years, quilters have also contributed items for the fundraiser.

The Village Square Indoor Park is open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The public is welcome to bid on any of the items in the silent auction, which will close at 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb 29.

The display is free and open to the public. Visitors should call before arriving to ensure that the Village Square Indoor Park is not closed for a special event.

Auction high bidders will be notified by phone. The birdhouses can be picked up the week following the auction from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Village Square Reception Desk.

Garden Spot Village is located at 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland. The public is encouraged to call before visiting to make sure that the Village Square Indoor Park is open. For more information call 717-355-6000.
