Teens join in Celebration of Age

Students from Garden Spot High School served cake and ice cream and mingled with Independent Living residents during the recent Celebration of Age, a community birthday party for those who turned 90 or better during the last year.

Garden Spot Village Senior Care Dorothy Edris, 91, who lives at Garden Spot Village, shares a smile with Florence Dini, a student at Garden Spot High School and a member of the National Honor Society.

The eight students, all members of the National Honor Society, served cake, ice cream, and coffee and mingled with the approximately 50 residents who turns out for the 90-Plus Birthday Club party on Wednesday, May 27. The annual Celebration of Age event honors all those who have turned 90 or above in the past year. That group includes more than 85 people who are living independently in apartments and cottages on the community's campus.

In addition, the Lighter Side Players — the drama club at Garden Spot Village — entertained the celebrants with a skit and a song.
