Garden Spot Village Announces Annual Fall Festival & Benefit Auction

Date is set for Saturday, October 10, 2009.

NEW HOLLAND, Pa. — August 18, 2009 — The mouthwatering aroma of chicken barbecue wafts on the crisp autumn breeze. The sweet tartness of an apple dumpling melts in your mouth. Piled atop a hay wagon, children with painted faces shriek with delight as the horses’ hooves clip-clop along. You see quilts in all colors and patterns and rich fabrics. Every stitch is perfect. You hope yours is the winning bid….

That’s the experience that awaits when Garden Spot Village holds its annual Fall Festival & Benefit Auction on Sat., Oct. 10, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Every year this popular event draws people from throughout Pennsylvania and beyond to enjoy the festivities and support a good cause. Proceeds benefit the Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund, which helps support residents who need financial assistance. In 2008, Garden Spot Village paid $1.2 million in uncompensated benevolent care. To pay for this care, Garden Spot Village relies on contributions from donors and fundraising events, such as the Fall Festival.

With something to entertain everyone in the family, the Fall Festival & Benefit Auction draws attendees from throughout Pennsylvania and beyond. A craft fair features a variety of creative wares for sale, and an art exhibit will focus on architectural themes. Auction-goers can bid on hand-sewn quilts, handcrafted wooden items, and an array of services and specialty items at a live auction that starts at 10 a.m. A selection of theme baskets will be offered for bid in the silent auction. Hayrides, facepainting and other activities will be available for children, and the community’s model train room will be open for visitors to enjoy. Festival-goers can also enjoy favorite foods, including chicken corn soup and chili, chicken barbecue, hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches and apple dumplings.
