NEW HOLLAND, Pa. — Sept. 2, 2009 — Garden Spot Village has announced a new Spiritual Life Enrichment Class entitled “The Jesus the Church Needs to Know: The Jewish Jesus of the Hebrew Scriptures.” The instructor for the class will be Rev. Jeffrey D. Miller, of Reading, producer and co-host of the nationally broadcast radio program “Messianic Minutes.”
“Rev. Miller is an outstanding Bible scholar and a dynamic teacher who travels extensively throughout the U.S. as a Jew with a message about Jesus,” said Chet Yoder, director of pastoral care at the faith-based, not-for-profit retirement community. “He recently spoke as part of our summer Meet the Churches series, and his presentation was very well received.”
Miller was born and raised Jewish, but he became an avowed atheist at an early age. As an adult, he believed that his secular humanist ways were the key to an exciting career in broadcasting. In 1983, at the age of 36, he had a change of heart and surrendered to Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah. Since then he has traveled to 37 states as well as India, Cuba and Canada, praying with Jews and Gentiles to accept the Messiah. Along with Rabbi Ted Simon, Miller co-hosts Messianic Minutes, a daily radio program aimed at bringing the Gospel to the Jewish people through Bible-believing Christian listeners. The nationally syndicated program has been heard on more than 400 radio stations from coast to coast.
“This will be a rich experience that both experienced and casual students of the Bible will find interesting, enlightening and entertaining,” Yoder said. “We look forward to welcoming our neighbors from throughout eastern Lancaster County.”
The Spiritual Life Enrichment Class is a part of the Garden Spot Village Active Lifelong Learners in Vital Engagement (ALIVE) program, which offers interactive events to educate participants about the Christian faith, nurture love of God and neighbors, and provide an opportunity for personal transformation of faith and life.
The class meets on three Tuesday evenings, Oct. 6 through 20, from 7 until 8:30, in the Garden Spot Village chapel at 433 S. Kinzer Ave. The program is open to residents and the general public. Registration is $10. To register in advance, please call 717-355-6001 or register the first evening of class.
