Garden Spot Village Exhibits Congressman's Art
Joseph R. Pitts (R-PA) will talk about his drawings, paintings and sculpture on September 21.
NEW HOLLAND, Pa. —Sept. 3, 2009 —Garden Spot Village is exhibiting the work of Joseph R. Pitts (R-PA) in its Main Street Art Gallery. The congressman’s paintings, sketches and sculptures will be on view at the retirement community throughout September, daily from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. In addition, the congressman will talk about his artwork on Mon., Sept. 21, at 10:30 a.m., in the community’s Apartment Suites Garden Towers.
“Our Main Street Gallery features different artists each month,” said Colleen Musselman, director of life enrichment at Garden Spot Village. Joe Pitts has many hobbies, including stamp collecting and bonsai. His art has always been of particular interest to people. Bob Kane, the district outreach coordinator for Congressman Pitts, and I thought it would be wonderful to share the congressman’s artwork with residents here at Garden Spot Village and with family, friends and neighbors from throughout eastern Lancaster County.”
Pitts is a seventh-term congressman who represents the 16th Congressional District of Pennsylvania, which stretches from Lancaster County to Chester County and north to Berks County. The exhibit includes oil paintings of historic figures, landmarks and landscapes, many of which were inspired by the congressman’s political service, as well as by scenes from throughout his district and from his travels. The exhibit also includes pencil sketches, watercolors, woodcraft and sculptures in clay and bronze.
The Garden Spot Village Main Street Art Gallery changes its exhibits regularly. It recently featured the work of Amish artist Susie Riehl. In October, it will highlight a group show of residents’ paintings with an architectural theme. These will be on display during the community’s annual Fall Festival and Benefit Auction on Sat., Oct. 10.
To visit the Gallery, enter through the Village Square North entrance, and the receptionist will point the way to the art gallery.
