Garden Spot Village Presents “For Unsung Heroes” on September 11
Program commemorates 9/11 and honors firefighters, police officers and emergency medical personnel
NEW HOLLAND, Pa. —Aug. 18, 2009 — The nation is still healing from the awful events of Sept. 11, 2001. Emergency rescue workers who risked their lives to respond to the calls were especially devastated. More than 400 were lost.
This year on Fri., Sept. 11, Garden Spot Village will present “For Unsung Heroes,” to remember all those lost on 9/11 and honor active and retired firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency medical personnel. The program will feature The Village Voices choir, along with prayers and readings. District Justice Rodney H. Hartman is scheduled to present a recognition and commendation of emergency response personnel. A 2 p.m. presentation will be held for Garden Spot Village residents and guests. The program is free, and the general public is invited to attend the 7 p.m. presentation. Both will take place in the chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave.
“Abby Eberly, director of Village Voices, suggested that we honor our unsung heroes, and the program was born from there,” said Colleen Musselman, director of life enrichment. “We wanted to tap into a healing faith and recognize the bravery, patriotism and selflessness of those who put their lives on the line to protect us—on September 11th and every day.”
