The Lancaster Science Factory is an interactive family-oriented science center, with plenty of activities that both engage and educate. Throughout the summer, they also offer a variety of educational STEM programs and workshops for children of all ages.
The Historic Lancaster Walking Tour is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the long history of Lancaster. This nonprofit organization sends all proceeds to Lancaster-based charities and nonprofits. They offer special tours just for children, and their trained volunteers are eager to show off the rich history of Lancaster City.
Sponsored by the African American Historical Society of South Central Pennsylvania, trained volunteers will guide you and your family to twelve historical sites around Lancaster, including four with special connections to the Underground Railroad. These tours offer a fresh perspective on the city and the origins of civil rights activism and Black businesses throughout Lancaster.

From their displays of restored locomotives and cars, their exhibits of railroad memorabilia, and their events and programs, the Railroad Museum is the perfect place for families to explore and learn!
Designed for kids ages 2-10, the Hands-on Children’s House of Lancaster is a nonprofit that offers a variety of educational exhibits to allow children and adults to play together while learning in the process. This summer they have numerous classes and programs that also provide enriching opportunities for the children in your life.
With tons of exhibits for all ages, the North Museum of Nature and Science includes hands-on activities and interactive experiences, such as live animals, a Dinosaur Gallery, Nanotechnology exhibits, taxidermy bird collections, and rock, fossil, and mineral collections.
