April 2018 | Endeavor: Highlighting the Happenings at Garden Spot Village
Written by Scott Miller
Hello and Welcome to Endeavour - Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.
If you’ve visited Garden Spot you may be one of the overwhelming number of people who say, “there’s something different about Garden Spot, I’m not sure what it is but I can feel it. We call it the Garden Spot Experience and it’s all about the abundant opportunities to live with live purpose in community.
A good example of that . . . is, this year we celebrate the 10th annual Garden Spot Village Marathon, Half Marathon and Kids Marathon. Yes, we’re talking about a full 26.2 mile run through the farmlands of Eastern Lancaster County. Thousands of people gather on our campus for the event. It’s an inspiring and exciting day. This year people are coming from over 25 states and as far away as Panama! Many residents volunteer to help make the event an exceptional day for runners AND a number of residents and staff go out run. In fact, through the winter months you can find residents training for the marathon on one of these treadmills, right here . . . in our newly - remodeled cardio center. Hosting an extreme sport is one of things that makes Garden Spot “a little different.” We also host Pedal to Preserve - a 6, 20 and 50 mile bike ride - on Saturday June 2nd.
The latest issue of Destination - Garden Spot Village, magazine just published and mailed. This issue focuses on innovation. We do our best to be stay ahead of things . . . and we’re always finding ways to improve. Another thing that contributes to that “different here comment” is that people also tell us Garden Spot is innovative. A number of years ago we took that to heart, added innovation as a core value and made it a strategic initiative. You can find the magazine online and if you’d like a hard copy we’d be happy to send you one. Just e-mail us your address with Destination Magazine in the subject line.
We just posted the April issue of the Garden Variety where you can find all the things happening on campus.
This has been Endeavor – Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.
I’m Scott Miller and I hope to see you around campus. As I always say . . . Life is Good!
