Hello and Welcome to Endeavour – Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

Welcome to August . . . here we are at the model Sycamore Springs Cottage. Kelly will be here during the week from 8:30 to 4:00 through August and would love for you to stop by. Or you can call and make an appointment whatever works best for you.

I was interviewing a new Sycamore Springs resident who will be featured in the fall issue of Destination Magazine. He said something that made my day. Paraphrasing, he said, “we’d been watching your videos for quite some time and not only does everything live up to what you say it will, it’s better than what we expected.” That’s the best comment anyone could make about these videos. We strive to be authentic and give you an honest picture of life at Garden Spot Village.

Speaking of life at Garden Spot Village. Retired or not people think of summer – as – vacation time. When we tried to schedule another woman for an interview we had to postpone it because she was traveling to Ireland for a couple of weeks. That’s pretty typical. In fact, one of the things people say they love about Garden Spot is that they can lock the front door behind them and take off with out worrying about a thing. They have no worries because, they know we’ve got their back. Just think of it . . . no worries travel – it doesn’t get any better than that!

One of the things that happens every month is Trip Sign Up day. The Life Enrichment department organizes a host of trips month-in and month-out. All you have to do is sign up and show up. On the morning of trip sign up day the Village Square is a flurry of activity as people come out early to sign up for the things that interest them most There is one catch. You need to be a resident to sign up. It’s just another advantage of the lifestyle.

Ya know, you can still tap into the Garden Spot lifestyle because there are also a lot of things that are open to you even though you don’t live here yet. The Harvest Table and all our restaurants are open to you, as well as the Refresh Coffee bar where you can get Starbucks. There are theater events, lectures and of course plenty of significant and impactful volunteer opportunities both on and off campus.

To discover everything that is going on in August you can check out the August issue of the Garden Variety. We just posted it on the Garden Spot Village website.

This has been Endeavor – Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

I’m Scott Miller and I hope to see you around campus and as I always say  . . . Life is Good!
