July 2018 | Endeavor: Highlighting the Happenings at Garden Spot Village

Written by Scott Miller

Hello and Welcome to Endeavour - Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

I’m standing in the legacy garden pavilion at Garden Spot Village. Just on the other side is a pickle ball court, basketball, bocce courts, putting greens, an open green space for yard games and a fire pit. This is also where Vacation Bible School takes place. Kids love this program, it’s educational and it connects your kids and grandkids with the residents of Garden Spot Village. You have heard me say this before and it is worth repeating . . . when young people interact with older generations it has lifelong . . positive . . developmental . . and emotional benefits for the kids! So bring them out. VBS is for kids in 1st grade through 8th from 9:00 in the morning until 11:30 July 17 – 19. It is free and open to the public. We’d love for your kids and grandkids to join us.

Each year,  Garden Spot Village,  along with other businesses and non-profits sponsor the New Holland Summer Arts program in the park - just next door,  to provide  - free - live concerts every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday evening . . .through July and August. Plus there are other fantastic events like the Arts & Craft show and Fiddlers Picnic. You can find the schedule by googling New Holland Summer Arts. If you strike up a conversation with some new friends there is a good chance they live at Garden Spot Village. We’re a big supporter.

Garden Spot Village and CrossNet Ministries partnered up,  a little over a year ago,  to create - Swipe Out Hunger . . . a free community meal -  the 4th Monday evening - of each month. Since its beginning more and more people come out to enjoy dinner together. It has evolved into a community event that exceeded everyone’s expectation. Residents of Garden Spot Village donate unused dining dollars and others, make cash donations, to buy the food It’s prepared by Sodexo and served at CrossNet Ministries by resident, CrossNet and local volunteers. Volunteering and social outreach are an important part of the culture at Garden Spot Village and you are invited to get involved.

We are into July and there are no summer doldrums here. July is full of opportunities at Garden Spot . . and you can discover them all . . in the Garden Variety . .  which we just posted . . on the events page  . .  of the website.

This has been Endeavor – Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

I’m Scott Miller and I hope to see you around campus. As I always say  . . . Life is Good!
