March 2019 | Endeavor: Highlighting the Happenings at Garden Spot Village
Written by Scott Miller
Hello and Welcome to Endeavor - Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village where you will find Abundant Opportunities to Live with Purpose in Community.
Here we are in the Train Room. This has been described by train enthusiasts as one of the best displays they have ever seen. New this year, in addition to the regular holiday open houses, this display will be open to the public the last Saturday of every quarter. The dates are listed in the current issue of the Garden Variety and on the events page of the Garden Spot Village website.
A new resident stopped me in the hall recently and commented: “The Wood Shop was a lifesaver as we got ready to move to Garden Spot. I had a barn full of seasoned wood I didn’t know what to do with. Several guys from the wood shop looked it over and accepted it as a donation. I had no idea what I was going to do with all that wood.” As you downsize keep Garden Spot Village in mind. There are 40+ clubs and many accept donations. Like the Metal Shop. The Wood Shop. The Train Room. The Art Guild. The Quilters and Crafters. There’s also the Garden Spot Village Share & Care Thrift Store which accepts furniture, jewelry and household goods. Talk with Megan or Kelly to learn more.
John Commander, an avid runner, who works at Garden Spot, ran the new half marathon course for fun and loves it. It goes way out into breathtaking farmlands. New this year is a 10K for those who are looking for something a little more than a 5K. The medal is designed like the Garden Spot Village Hot air balloon and is really cool. The ELANCO library is sponsoring the Kids Marathon this year so there is something for everyone. The dates are Friday April 5 and Saturday April 6. Visit gardenspotvillage.run to register.
You may be one of the many people who are excited about the 50 new homes at Sycamore Springs. To stay up to date on the progress keep an eye out for the next “This is Sycamore Springs” video. It’s a monthly update by Megan and Kelly and the next one includes some exciting information and upcoming dates. You don’t want to miss it.
We just posted the March issue of the Garden Variety on the website where you can discover everything that is going on this month.
