May 2017 | Endeavor: Highlighting the Happenings at Garden Spot Village

Written by Scott Miller

Hello and Welcome to Endeavor - Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

As you can see May flowers are in bloom at Garden Spot. The wonderful thing for the people who live here is that they don’t have to mow the grass, trim the hedges or haul mulch. That’s all taken care of. All they have to do is enjoy it all and go do what they want to do. Of course,  if you like to garden, gardens are available. We run the rototiller so you can plant, tend and enjoy what you grow. The same goes for the new houses at Sycamore Springs.

The marathon in early April was a big success again this year - with just over 1,200 runners and kids. There were again as many guests and spectators. Over 400 people volunteered and a significant number of residents participate in the race. Living at Garden Spot keeps you young!  The next sporting event is coming up on Saturday, June 3rd. The Pedal to Preserve annual cycling event will again start and finish in the Legacy Garden. You can choose a 6, 20 or 51-mile ride through the beautiful farmlands. Google Pedal to Preserve 2017 to learn more and register.

On Friday, May 19th and Saturday, May 20th The Village Voices choral concert will feature “Hats Off to Our Favorite Things.” It’s at 7 p.m. in the chapel each night. There are two performances because they are just “that good!” and a lot of people show up. You won’t want to miss it.

We just posted the May issue of the Garden Variety on our website where you can discover all that is going on this month.

This has been Endeavor – Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

I’m Scott Miller and I hope to see you around campus and as I always say  . . . Life is Good!
