November 2018 | Endeavor: Highlighting the Happenings at Garden Spot Village

Written by Scott Miller

Hello and Welcome to Endeavor: Highlighting the Happenings at Garden Spot Village.

Did you know U.S. News & World Report listed Lancaster County as the best place to retire in the United States. That’s right—ahead of both Florida and Arizona! So we thought we’d bring you out into the beauty and intrigue of the Amish Farmlands, which is one of the things that makes Lancaster County so appealing! Personally, I find covered bridges fascinating and I often drive through 3 of them including this one on the way to Garden Spot in the mornings.

LeadingAge is the national conference for aging services, like retirement communities. At the recent annual meeting in Philadelphia, in front of over 7,000 attendees, Garden Spot Communities was presented with the Annual Innovation Award for the Cooperative Living House. The award was accepted by Ruth Dunlap, one of the pioneering residents in this new model of living which launched early this year. We are both honored and thrilled!

In Destination magazine we recently added “On The Clock” in each issue featuring the people who live here and who still have paying jobs either locally or working out of their home office. We recognize that many of you have daytime jobs, which is why we’ve been offering GSV After Work. These are evening seminars that provide an overview of life at Garden Spot Village, the retirement community industry and what you can expect from retirement communities in general. The next GSV After Work is on November 13 starting at 5:30. You can register from the Look & Learn button on the home page of our website.

The annual Train Room Open Houses begin the last Saturday in November. Train enthusiasts have called the Garden Spot Village train room one of the most impressive exhibits they have ever seen. You won’t want to miss it!

November is full of opportunities at Garden Spot and you can find details for the things I just mentioned plus everything else that is going on in the November Issue of the Garden Variety which we just posted on the events page of the website.

This has been Endeavor – Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

I’m Scott Miller and I hope to see you around campus. As I always say, Life is Good!
