September 2018 | Endeavor: Highlighting the Happenings at Garden Spot Village

Written by Scott Miller

Hello and Welcome to Endeavor - Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

Welcome to the Legacy Garden, where the third annual CrossNet Garden Gala will be held Saturday, September 15th. Imagine an evening meandering through the gardens under the stars, socializing and enjoying delicious tapas-style foods in a sparkling atmosphere. We’d love for you to join the local community and Garden Spot in support of CrossNet Ministries. Look for the ad in the Garden Variety for details.

Helping you cultivate purpose in your life - by offering opportunities that you find meaningful - is a central element of the Garden Spot Experience. One of the ways people do that is through volunteering. There’s a thriving volunteer network at Garden Spot that serves both on and off campus. You don’t have to live here to be involved. A volunteer fair is being held on Tuesday Sept. 18th. See the article in the Garden Variety for all the details. You are more than welcome to come explore the possibilities that you find interesting. And we hope to see you at the fair.

Speaking of living with purpose, another Travel with Purpose opportunity is available October 27th–November 3rd.  Travel with Garden Spot Village to Tarboro, North Carolina to help restore homes that were damaged during hurricane Matthew 2 years ago. Total cost for travel, food, room and board is only $50 per person. But more importantly, you will make a huge difference in the life of someone who survived a disaster and is still unable to live in their home.

Finally, you will want to put the date for the Garden Spot Village 22nd Annual Fall Festival on your calendar. It’s Saturday, October 13th.  Details will be available in the October issue of the Garden Variety or you can visit gsvfallfestival.org.

September is full of opportunities at Garden Spot, and you can find details for the events I mentioned earlier, plus everything else that is going on in the September Issue of the Garden Variety, which we just posted on the events page of the website.

This has been Endeavor – Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.

I’m Scott Miller and I hope to see you around campus. As I always say  . . . Life is Good!
