September 2019 | Endeavor: Highlighting the Happenings at Garden Spot Village
Written by Scott Miller
Hello and Welcome to Endeavour - Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village where you will find Abundant Opportunities to Live with Purpose in Community
Here we are in the aeroponic greenhouse and you can see that we have been both planting and harvesting the produce. Since its dedication in May of 2016 a wide variety of individuals and organizations have come to visit, including - the department of agriculture, schools and quite a few retirement communities. We recently got word that some other communities are building their own aeroponic greenhouses. We feel extremely grateful that Garden Spot can be an inspiration to others, but the biggest benefit—is the fresh picked produce—that is served all year round in our restaurants and, of course, the opportunities that it provides for people to volunteer doing something they love. It’s been a little over three years and it’s turned out to be a wonderful addition to the campus.
To put this entire area into perspective—the 50 new, Sycamore Springs, single family houses are directly in front of me. If you go to the Sycamore Springs website and click on the “pick your home” button you’ll see that 23 of the 50 homes are spoken for and we haven’t even started to pour foundations yet. They are extremely popular. Many people, who recently got on the radar screen for cottages and carriage homes, decided on Sycamore Springs because of all the choices that come with new construction, as well as, the shorter and more definitive move-in schedule.
The sooner you live here the longer you can enjoy all the amazing things that happen. There’s a sense of adventure at Garden Spot. Our hot air balloon, the Marathon and cycling events, they all set the stage for the Adventure Team. There have been some really cool resident adventures so far this summer. Things like visits to video arcades, ax throwing, bicycle rides, go-carting, mini-golfing, kayaking and the one that is coming up in September: zip-lining and horseback riding at Refreshing Mountain. As a Future Resident you have the opportunity to join the September adventure. Simply stop by or give us a call.
As always there are a lot of great things happening both on and off campus. You can find all the details in the September issue of the Garden Variety, which we just posted on the events page - of our website.
