SUMMARY:Dementia Learning: Reframing Dementia
DESCRIPTION:ForgeWorks Dementia Educator and Consultant Janie Martin will offer a four-part dementia series called “Reframing Dementia.” The dates for the series are: July 22\, 24\, 31 and August 7. \n\n\n\n\n\nThis series will reduce the stigma of dementia and help care partners to build tools for purposeful engagement for someone living with brain changes. \n\n\n\n\n\nSession topics include:Hope in the face of a scary diagnosisIntroduction to dementia and brain changesDeveloping trust through communication (verbal/nonverbal)The art of communication through a changing journeyBehaviors versus reactionsTips on bringing calm through response\, rather than reactionsActivities of Daily Living- bathing\, dressing\, toileting\, etc. Finding the joy in this care-partnering.Sleep patterns and purposeful livingEnd-stage dementia and end-of-life care \n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a lunchtime presentation; bring your lunch and we’ll provide dessert!
