Gifts for Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes
Since 1993 Samaritan’s Purse has delivered more than 168 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in need in more than 160 countries and territories. To support their work, during the month of August, we will collect items to go into shoeboxes we will pack in October for Operation Christmas Child. Place small toys, school supplies, hygiene items, washcloths and more in the wooden barrel next to the post office by the Apartment Suites Lobby. To learn more about Operation Christmas Child or to get inspiration on the types of items needed, visit their website. For more information, please contact Life Enrichment at 717.355.6007.

Swipe Out Hunger - Free Community Meal
On the fourth Monday of each month, Garden Spot Village hosts a community meal at the CrossNet Youth Ministries building in New Holland from 5:30-6:30pm. Volunteers set up tables Monday morning and serve the meal Monday evening. Garden Spot Village’s Swipe out Hunger campaign funds the meal each month. You are invited to participate in one of three ways: donate unused meal dollars to the Swipe Out Hunter campaign, volunteer to set up, serve or clean up after the meal or pray for requests shared by the community during the event. Serving others while traveling internationally is a great way to blend meaningful contribution with a sense of adventure. Living with purpose is important at Garden Spot Village and our Travel with Purpose trips are an integral part. This trip to Kenya, serving beside CURE International, will allow participants to provide spiritual and emotional support to the families and children receiving surgeries.
September 27 - October 8, 2019
Garden Spot Village will continue its longstanding relationship with CURE International through a trip to CURE Kenya’s hospital in Kijabe, Kenya. Tour participants will interact with children as they wait for surgery, visit with children who are recovering from surgery, bless families with gifts of toys, school items, art supplies and more. Each visit to the CURE hospital brings children and their families hope, as well as physical and spiritual healing as they hear the gospel of Jesus. After a week serving, participants will enjoy an end-of-trip safari tour.

Garden Spot Village offers opportunities to travel with purpose! A couple times a year Garden Spot Village sponsors trips that combine service with adventure, like the upcoming trip to Tarboro, North Carolina in March 2019.
Tarboro, North Carolina
March 23-30, 2019
Hurricane Matthew wreaked havoc on eastern North Carolina in October 2016. A team of residents and staff from Garden Spot Village and Mount Gretna United Methodist Church will travel to Tarboro in order to assist United Methodist Church Volunteers in Mission’s disaster recovery work there. During the trip volunteers will complete home improvement projects like repairing subflooring, installing laminate flooring, hanging drywall, painting and installing crown molding.
