Lancaster County Races this Fall 2013

The Garden Spot Marathon is 6 months away, but we’re already planning and training for it! For our avid runners, we want to keep you informed and laced up for the GSV Marathon on April 12th, 2014! There are quite a few smaller races coming up in Lancaster County in the months preceding this marathon to keep you motivated and in shape for April.

October 5th: Hartz Physical Therapy in Lititz presents their Fall Blast 5k to celebrate National Physical Therapy Month! This year proceeds go to Power Packs Project of Lancaster which donates food and teaches low-income families how to create nutritious meals to combat child hunger.

October 12th: Correr for CARE is a 5k Benefit Run/Walk through Lancaster County Central Park where all proceeds go towards a school building project in Honduras. There is also a 1 mile run for kids.

October 19th: Rule the Roost Triathalon sponsored by Garden Spot Village and the New Holland Recreation Center. Don’t miss this event including a 200-yard indoor pool swim at NHRC, 13 mile bike ride from and to NHRC and a 5k run from NHRC to GSV. It’s bound to be great fun!

October 26th: The Boy Scout Troup 48 presents a 5k Run in New Holland.

October 26th: The YMCA is hosting a “Trick or Trot” 5k and “Monster Mile” for Kids (1k) through the Woodward Hill Cemetery and Lancaster County Central Park. Prizes for the best costumes as well as for runners.

November 2nd: The MAG Fall Flash 5k takes place via the Veterans Memorial Bridge between Lancaster & York County. It’s a popular race because of the gorgeous fall foliage of the river valley.

November 16th: The Iron Bridge 5k Run & Walk is held on the cross country course of the Lancaster Campus of Lancaster Mennonite School.

Lace up and register for a race or two in the coming months so that you’re ready for the Garden Spot Village Marathon. The crisp fall air of Lancaster County is nice to run in, so we hope that you take advantage of these opportunities to run this Fall. How do you plan to stay in shape once to cold weather comes?
