Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by why we get, but we make a life by what we give.” At Garden Spot Village generosity overflows. A spirit of abundance fuels the community and people give generously through a Making-a-Difference.

Making-a-Difference is a monthly collection of material items for local non-profit organizations. To participate, place donations in the barrel located in the apartment suites lobby. Call Life Enrichment at 717.355.6007 to learn more.

Upcoming collections include:

February 1-29
We will collect non-perishable food items for the CrossNet Food Pantry. CrossNet Ministries offers help and hope in the name of Jesus Christ by empowering people in the ELANCO community. The organization provides programs in the area of Youth, Food & Nutrition, Social Services and Community.

March 1-31
We will collect brand new, stuffed new teddy bears for the New Holland Police Department. Donated bears will ride along with officers in patrol cars. Police officers will share the teddy bears with children involved in emergency calls for comfort.

April 1-30
In honor of Earth Day we will collect used items for our “Your TRASH is a Ministries CASH” program. Donate used eyeglasses for the Lions Club, Box Tops and Coca-Cola caps for New Holland Elementary School, aluminum can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House, used cell phones for the United States military and stamps for the Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund.

May 1-31
We will collect hygiene items like washcloths, soap, shampoo, deodorant and more for children participating in the Refugee Center and Community School at Reynolds Middle School in Lancaster. A partnership between the I.U. 13 and other Lancaster-based service agencies, the Community School serves the whole child—mentally, emotionally and socially. The hygiene items will be placed in drawstring bags and shared with refugee students at the end of the school year.
