Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by why we get, but we make a life by what we give.” At Garden Spot Village generosity overflows. A spirit of abundance fuels the community and people give generously through a Making-a-Difference.

Making-a-Difference is a monthly collection of material items for local non-profit organizations. To participate, place donations in the barrel located in the apartment suites lobby. Call Life Enrichment at 717.355.6007 to learn more.

Upcoming collections include:

October 1-31
Since 1993 Samaritan’s Purse has delivered more than 178 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in need in more than 150 countries and territories. To support their work, during the month of October, we will collect gift-filled shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. We will also host a packing party on October 20 to pack the items donated earlier this summer. To learn more about Operation Christmas Child, visit their website.

November 1-30
We will collect new hats, scarves, gloves and mittens appropriate for school-age children through the month of November. We will donate the items to CrossNet Ministries to share with children in our community. To learn more about the ways CrossNet ministers to the greater New Holland community, visit their website.

December 1-31
In partnership with Keystone Military Families, we will collect empty Christmas stockings for soldiers around the world. Stockings, 20”-24” in size, handmade or purchased, are welcome. Keystone Military Families will fill the stockings with gifts and ship them to deployed troops around the world. Keystone Military Families has been assisting deployed troops, veterans and military families for many years.  For more information about Keystone Military Families, visit their website.

January 19 - February 7
Since 2006 Garden Spot Village has participated in the Souper Bowl of Caring, a national food drive that uses the energy of the Super Bowl to mobilize youth and adults to care for people in their local communities who are hungry and in need. This year we will collect canned soup and cracker donations for the CrossNet Food Pantry.

February 1-28
Please join us as we collect non-perishable food items for the CrossNet Food Pantry. CrossNet Ministries offers help and hope in the name of Jesus Christ by empowering people in the ELANCO community. The organization provides programs in the area of Youth, Food & Nutrition, Social Services and Community.
