New Holland Historical Society: Turnpike Pile Markers of Lancaster County
February 26, 2026 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Generations ago, Lancaster County had ten “turnpikes” that ran through many of its towns, with small markers noting the distance at each mile. While they were once critical, today, many of these markers have been removed, destroyed, or simply vanished from their original locations. Cory Van Brookhaven will discuss the history of these objects and also present updates on the whereabouts of many of these important parts of our county’s history.
