At Garden Spot Village, we believe retirement is about discovery.
The Pro-Aging Revolution challenges the outdated idea that growth belongs only to the young. Instead, it celebrates curiosity, purpose and lifelong learning at every stage of life. At Garden Spot Village, learning is not an occasional event. It is part of the community’s everyday life.
A Community That Stays Curious
Each month, residents gather for our Lifelong Learning Speaker Series, where engaging presenters explore topics that spark thought and conversation. From nutrition and theology to science, performing arts and brain health, these sessions invite residents to stretch their thinking and explore new ideas.
Art patrons enjoy regular Art Talks featuring working artists who share their creative process, inspiration and techniques. History enthusiasts connect through presentations from the New Holland Historical Society, bringing local stories and rich heritage to life. These gatherings are more than lectures. They are spaces where ideas are exchanged, friendships are strengthened and perspectives are broadened.
Growing in Understanding: Dementia Education
Learning also means deepening our understanding of the changes that can come with aging. At Garden Spot Village, we are committed to thoughtful, compassionate education around brain health.
Through partnerships with ForgeWorks consultants, we work alongside two exceptional dementia educators who provide meaningful teaching about brain changes and how to support individuals living with dementia. These sessions equip residents, family members and team members with practical tools and renewed empathy. By fostering understanding, we strengthen community and ensure every individual is treated with dignity and respect.
Intergenerational Wisdom
This May, the Wisdom Course returns in partnership with Elizabethtown College. In this innovative class, residents and team members learn alongside college students to reflect on and share their life stories. The experience is deeply intergenerational. It honors lived experience while building bridges across generations. College students gain perspective and mentorship. Residents discover fresh purpose as they articulate their legacy. Together, they form meaningful relationships rooted in mutual respect and shared learning.
Storytelling becomes more than nostalgia. It becomes a contribution to future generations.
Learning Beyond the Campus
The culture of learning extends beyond in-person gatherings. Through the Purpose in Retirement Podcast, listeners can explore stories and insights about purposeful living, faith, service and discovery in later life.
Learning also continues online through GSC Academies. Many presentations that have taken place at Garden Spot Village are available as digital courses, allowing participants to revisit meaningful topics or explore new ones at their own pace. Whether you are interested in leadership, theology, dementia education or purposeful living, these courses provide flexible opportunities for continued growth. Growth Never Stops
Learning keeps the mind active. Conversation strengthens connection. Storytelling gives legacy a voice.
The Pro-Aging Revolution reminds us that growth never stops, and neither does the opportunity to live a fully engaged life.
