Amusement parks are spectacular summer sites for family fun, whether your family craves thrills or just enjoys time together. There are many parks located within a two-hour drive of Lancaster, and each offers unique rides and experiences.
Knoebels – 391 Knoebels Blvd, Elysburg, PA 17824
Stop by Knoebels, America’s largest free admission amusement park, to enjoy a day of family fun. The 60+ rides and attractions can be paid for individually, or you can purchase an unlimited day pass. There are many games and food vendors, similar to what would be found at a fair. The park also offers a range of accommodations, including campsites and country cottages. Tickets can be purchased online or at the park entrance, but it is not required.
Dutch Wonderland – 2249 Lincoln Hwy E, Lancaster, PA 17602
For over 60 years, Dutch Wonderland has fostered a magical environment focused on family entertainment. There are many rides geared towards both younger and older children. While there, you may be able to listen to Royal Story Time or watch a professional diving performance. Duke’s Lagoon, a small waterpark, will also be operating throughout the summer months. Tickets can be purchased online or at the entrance.
Dorney Park – 3830 Dorney Park Rd, Allentown, PA 18104
Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom has been in operation since 1884, and is one of the largest waterparks in the northeastern United States. Alongside this, they offer thrills of all levels. From the Antique Carousel to Steel Force, a mega-coaster with a 205 ft drop and speeds of 75 mph, there is sure to be a ride for everyone. Tickets can be bought online or at the entrance. Waterpark entry is included in the purchase of a park ticket.
Hersheypark – 100 Hersheypark Dr, Hershey, PA 17033
A ticket to Hersheypark unlocked an array of sweet experiences, including rollercoasters, a water park, and a zoo! With 121 acres of park available to explore, Hersheypark is an all-day venture. The candy theme permeates across the rides, mascots, and dining options. Tickets can be purchased online or at the entrance. There is also an additional parking fee.
Great Wolf Lodge – 1 Great Wolf Drive, Scotrun PA 18355
Great Wolf Lodge is an indoor water park kept open year-round. The 120,000 square foot park is kept at a comfortable 84 degrees. They offer life jackets, towels, and lockers available for public use. Staying at the lodge is not required, and day passes to the park are available for purchase.
Waterslide enthusiasts and rollercoaster extremists alike will be able to satisfy both their need for thrill and desire for a day of family fun at one of the many local amusement parks.
