On May 8 at 7 p.m. in the Chapel at Garden Spot Village, experience an evening of historical and personal stories that will shed light on the rich tapestry of Latino life in these vibrant communities.

Don Horning will kick off the event by delving into the journey of Latino workers at Weaver Chicken (now Tyson) in New Holland as they integrated into the local community. Attendees will gain insights into the challenges and triumphs faced by these individuals as they forged connections and built lives in the heart of Pennsylvania.

Ramona Santiago and Miriam Gonzalez Lauver will then share poignant tales of migrant Latino workers in southern Lancaster County, offering a window into the experiences and contributions of this often-overlooked segment of the population.

Finally, Jesus Cruz, hailing from New York City, will provide a firsthand account of past housing efforts in the southeast quadrant of Lancaster City, exploring their impact on the local Latino community and shedding light on ongoing efforts for equitable housing access.
