Popular speaker series features local pastors.
NEW HOLLAND, Pa. — June 14, 2011 — Garden Spot Village announces the 2011 “Meet the Churches” series of free lectures and discussions featuring representatives of various faith communities. The general public is invited to attend any or all sessions of this popular program, which will meet on most Monday evenings from July 11 through Aug. 29, beginning at 7 p.m., in the chapel of the retirement community at 433 S. Kinzer Ave. No presentation is scheduled for Aug. 1.
“We are delighted that so many people are interested in learning about, understanding and appreciating all the manifestations of God’s church,” said Chet Yoder, director of pastoral care at Garden Spot Village. “These presentations are informational and highly interactive. Participants have opportunities to ask questions and gain new insights into the various faith traditions.”
Each session features a different pastor or religious leader from a local congregation. Speakers share about the history of their particular denomination as well as their congregation. A time of discussion follows each presentation.
The scheduled presentations are:
• July 11 Pastor Paul Caughill, High Point Baptist Church
• July 18 Pastor Sam Smucker, The Worship Center
• July 25 Pastor Lester Zimmerman, Petra Christian Fellowship
• Aug. 8 Pastor Emeritus Eric Crichton, Calvary Church
• Aug. 15 Pastor John Zeswitz, LCBC (Lives Changed by Christ)
• Aug. 22 Pastor Doug Bozung, Christian Fellowship Church
• Aug. 29 Pastor Jamie Mitchell, New Song Fellowship Church
The not-for-profit retirement community is home to all faiths and backgrounds. It is affiliated with the Lancaster Mennonite Conference of the Mennonite Church, the Atlantic Coast Conference of the Mennonite Church USA and Mennonite Health Services. The community’s mission is “to enrich the lives of older adults as an expression of Christ’s love.”
Meet the Churches is open to residents of Garden Spot Village and the general public. The event is free. No preregistration is required. For more information, please call Chet Yoder, director of pastoral care, at 717-355-6203.
