June 2017 | Endeavor: Highlighting the Happenings at Garden Spot Village
Written by Scott Miller
Hello and Welcome to Endeavour - Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.
It’s June and things are ramping up for summer. The opportunities to engage in activities that foster fulfilling experiences seem to escalate as the weather warms and kids get out of school.
Speaking of kids! Grands & Kids Camp takes place June 26 – 30. This is the 10th year for this week long camp filled with adventures for both grandkids and grandparents. It gives you a chance to not only have some fun but invest meaningful time with your grandkids. Studies show that grandparents can be extremely influential in the lives of grandchildren. Simply your presence and interest creates not only long lasting memories but healthy emotional development that reaches into adulthood. In addition to the fun, there is a “purposeful” side to the camp that happens naturally. One of my favorite stories involves a kid who told his parents they better not plan vacation during Grands and Kids because he’ll go stay with grandma & grandpa while they go on vacation without him!
On June 17th starting at 8:00 a.m. is the annual Garden Spot Village yard sale. Talk about a yard sale! Each year about 35 houses participate, the library puts out tons of books and the woodshop does a huge tool sale. It’s a great day for shopping, bargains and great conversations. You won’t want to miss it.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Sycamore Springs. There are a few single floor houses still available. They’re about 1,600 square feet and we have a couple of the ones you see behind me. They have drive-in basements and you can configure the top floor for a third person like a parent or an adult child over 55. We also began hosting luncheon seminars in the Community Building. Each Commons has its own community building where you can get together with family and friends. We can’t wait for all the construction to be completed. New residents are already telling us that Sycamore Springs is going to be one of the best places to live in Lancaster County. We’d love for you to sign up for one of the lunches to learn more. Visit sycamoresprings.org for the dates and times.
We just posted the June issue of the Garden Variety on the Garden Spot Village website where you can discover all that is going on this month.
